Writing Contest
NOTE: We changed the rules of the contest. Instead of offering only to include the story in an eBook (they simply don't sell all that well these days), going forward we'll use the contest to help select stories for the Worlds Of Fantasy anthology (a trade-paperback series). Use the feedback forms to tell us what you think.
Once again, we're behind in our duties! We're going to a once-per-year contest format and we have already received quite a few entries for the third contest - thanks to everyone for sending them! That said, there is a LOT of work creating the PDFs and posting them, etc., so we'll begin that process ASAP. The third contest will run from January 1, 2006 until the end of the year.
Well, our first contest is history, and it was an unqualified success! Several thousand contest stories were downloaded by our readers and they cast their votes for the winners. Now it’s time to move on to the next contest, so here’s how it works:
We post stories on the site and offer them to our readers free of charge.
Readers are asked to review the story using our 0-5 star rating form.
The highest rated stories win (winners are determined by a calculation of the highest number of votes in the best 20-day period. This allows people to get into the current contest quite late, if they don't want to wait for the next one).
The material can be anything from a 500-word short story to an excerpt from a full-length novel.
Based upon reader ratings, there will be one winner per 100 entries for EACH contest! That is GREAT odds on getting published (actually, everyone get published, but, you know what we mean). Plus, we'll pick a few highly-rated stories to be published in our "Hall Of Fame." And, even if you DON'T win, it's great exposure. As I mentioned above, we had thousands of downloads of our first contest stories (and much for the second contest) and we expect more the next time with all of our advertising and promoting. So, at the very least, hundreds of people (perhaps thousands) will read your story (and don't worry about your story getting "stolen" - it's a silly notion to begin with, but in any event, we'll have ratings that are dated from the people who read it!).

We can take nearly any file format, but please try to send THE CLEANEST MSWORD, WordPerfect, QUARK, ETC. FILE. If the story is short, you can submit it in the body of your email.
